Background Information
Rx for Access was jointly conceived and created by two different nonprofit programs--Volunteers in Health Care (Rhode Island) and Medicine for People in Need (California)--as a unique information and planning resource for safety net providers delivering pharmaceutical services in a changing, complex health care system. Bi-monthly and then monthly issues were published July 2004 through December 2005.
This wide-ranging publication covers such topics as:
- Patient assistance programs (both for brand name and generic drugs)
- 340B drug discount pricing issues
- Medicare drug discount cards and Part D drug coverage
- Medicaid pharmaceutical benefits and state management trends
- Strategies for effective pharmacy services
- Case studies of nonprofit organizations with successful, innovative pharmacy-related activities
- Research of interest to safety net providers
